The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India has announced 23759 vacancies for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) in Multiple postal circles across India (Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, North Eastern Circle, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal).
Candidates must have one of the following educational qualifications: Secondary School Examination (10th Class) with passing marks in Mathematics and English conducted by any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/Union Territories in India; Local language proficiency: The applicant should have studied the local language at least up to 10th Standard from a recognized board. The age limit for the post is 18 to 40 years.
The application process is scheduled from 2 September 2026 to 21 September 2026.
BPM: ₹12,000 – ₹29,380; ABPM/Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 – ₹24,470 (Time Related Continuity Allowance - TRCA with annual increase of 3% and Dearness Allowance as per Govt. of India)
Categories under GDS: Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), Dak Sevak. Vacancy distribution available circle-wise and division-wise (Assam). Engagement initially as GDS. TRCA slabs differ by category. Annual increase of 3% on TRCA subject to conditions. Dearness Allowance on TRCA as declared by Govt. of India.
