Selection Process

  1. Shortlisting: Applicants shortlisted on basis of system-generated merit list.
  2. Merit List: Prepared on basis of marks obtained/conversion of Grades/Points to marks in Secondary School Examination of 10th standard of recognised Boards aggregated to percentage to accuracy of 4 decimals.
  3. Physical Verification of Documents: Shortlisted candidates required to attend office of designated authority (Divisional/Unit Head) for physical verification of documents and further engagement formalities within 15 days from date of shortlisting.
  4. Final Selection: Subject to physical verification of original documents by Engaging Authority (Divisional Head/Unit Head). If no discrepancy found and documents match originals, verification deemed successful and system-generated 'Offer of provisional engagement' issued immediately.
  5. Pre-engagement formalities: Successful candidates must complete pre-engagement formalities within 30 days from date of 'offer of provisional engagement', including prescribed basic training of 3 days, arrangement of accommodation, etc.

  3. Fill all personal and educational details and upload necessary documents.
  4. Make payment of application fee as per category and submit the form.
  5. Take a print out of the application form.

Important Notes

  • GDSs are paid emoluments in form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) with annual increase of 3%, subject to fulfillment of conditions as per GDS Rules.
  • They are also entitled to Dearness Allowance on TRCA as declared by Govt. of India from time to time.
  • Categories of posts: Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), Dak Sevak.

The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India has announced 23759 vacancies for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) in Multiple postal circles across India (Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, North Eastern Circle, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal).
